VCXC Season Wrap – CrossRoads bTeam SomewhatPrestige Ride and Party

December 7, 2016

Well hello there.
It’s been a heck of a season! With support from KazLaw Personal Injury Lawyers, Four Winds Brewing, Woven Precision Wheels and Cycles Lambert brands Maxxis, WD 40 Bike and Lezyne, we have been VERY stoked on the racing, the prizes, the courses and the radical people that have been at every event!
As you have likely heard, we lost our race venue in the last week, and the planning that had gone into it. In the wake of that, we looked into many venues, and the logistics of changing the plans. In the end, we have found it better to have well planned communication with parks and cities than to try to organize in the 11th hour as these build better long term relationships and grow the sport. Thus, it is with heavy hearts we draw the 2016 Vancouver Cyclocross Coalition season to a close a little differently than planned. Sometimes the pieces don’t fall into place – you have to come up with solutions that improve the experience for everyone and we don’t want to end on a sour note. Though we are no longer having a race, we are sure as heck having a party, and in order to keep the good times rolling, we are going to have a ride!

CrossRoad Racing B-Team SomewhatPrestige Ride
We are going for a rip. A rip in the LSCR along Fishermans to be exact. We will have 3 ride groups, A, B, C, completing 3 distances on the ride. Each group will have at least 2 ride leaders, and we will have some extra supplies for the old “just in case”. That said, we will need you to sign a waiver (attached) as well as BE PREPARED. This is an off-road ride (mostly) during a cold time of year (mostly) that requires proper preparation to prevent poor performance (most definitely). The big loop is here and will take about 3-4 hours of riding. Bring supplies. Layer up. Winter Is Coming (https://www.wunderground.com/ca/bc/upper-lynn)
*If the LSCR Valley Trail is too slick/icy, we will come back on Fishermans. The Big Loop may also change to include the climb up to Section 8 if we’re feeling feisty. We may also cut it a bit short if it’s just that darn cold.
Meetup: 9:30 AM Saturday December 10th – JJ Bean at Park and Tilford – Park & Tilford Gardens, 333 Brooksbank Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7J 3S8
Departure: 10:30 AM
If you intend to drink coffee, show up early. If you intend to get a copy of a ride plan, show up early. If you are an anarchist that doesn’t care, show up at a time in between. This establishment is going to expect us coming, but it doesn’t change the size of the space, so be aware and be ready to hang out outside if you’re not purchasing things.
We will depart on time, with or without you, to keep this party rolling!

Four Winds Brewing and VCXC Series Wrap Up Party
Where: Princeton Pub – Restaurant – 1901 Powell St, Vancouver, BC V5L 1J2
When: 7 PM-11 PM, Saturday Dec 10th
What:  We will be honouring our Series Leaders with trophies, as well as doing a series podium for our top racers. Some accolades to be given, some beers to be drunk. The Princeton Pub does allow for ACCOMPANIED MINORS to come, so our Youth category racers can come with their families and accept their awards!
We will have Four Winds Brewing on tap, and will organize for a free beer on us should you be able to attend. We will also have small snacks available, but since the Princeton is awesome, you can also buy dinner and drinks from their full menu.
We will be planning Series Podiums to begin at 8pm.
And we will hang, have some beers, and party till 11pm
And finally the fine print. If you purchased a single event entry, we will be in contact directly with you, same if you currently hold a 2016 seasons pass!
Looking forward to riding with you all.
Cheers,
matt
